It’s November 7, 2016 and the holiday count down begins. No, not for Christmas. Most people would think of Christmas when someone mentions a holiday countdown. The Twelve Days of Christmas is an English Christmas carol that has been around since 1780. Most of us know it by heart since we probably learned it during childhood. Ok, enough about Christmas.
How many of you do a Thanksgiving Day countdown? I searched and could not find any 12 or 17 days to Thanksgiving songs. However, I did discover a list (https://www.timeout.com/newyork/music/the-20-best-thanksgiving-songs) titled The best Thanksgiving songs. Does anyone sit around listening to these songs while setting the table, preparing dressing or carving a turkey on Thanksgiving? Probably not. I would love to know how many of you are familiar with any of these songs.
I really would love to know about everyone’s plans for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is typically a workday. Many companies will close early, so workers can get home early to prepare meals or begin their travels to visit family or friends. Unfortunately, some people will be working. We should all be thankful that law enforcement officers, medical professionals, some retail employees, gas station attendants, and a few others we may need will be working.
I will continue this conversation in a day or more. For now, I would like to ask three questions with the hopes of learning more about your plans on November 23, 2016.
- Do you think you will get out of work early on Wednesday?
- Will you go to a bar for Happy Hour or other drinking festivities?
- Do you typically drink at a bar, at home, or elsewhere on Thanksgiving Eve?
